Levitating in Azure

My most creative jumpshot! Haha, yowayowa ang peg! (Yeah right no effort)

Pardon my fat-ness! Kasing-sabog ng final paper ko, but the shadowwww… xD

Maybe if people do not know just yet, the rubber grip of my camera is GONE. BOO. However, I still managed to take photographs of myself levitating.

I really DO apologize for NOT updating, because I ran out of ideas and I stayed away from my favorite hobby for so long… but don’t worry! I am saving up for the iPhone 4S, or the latest iPhone. (Despo for an Instagraaaam @_@) NAH, jez kidding.

Well, enjoy the rest of the week!

Manila Ocean Park, continued

Manila Ocean Park: Define first-time experience. What I liked here in this one is that, it is like Osaka Aquarium located in the Port Ward of Osaka-shi. Here are some photos that I didn’t publish!

Hey, Patrick! Why y’lyin’ there, eh?

Result of being underwater all day (;

Behind the scenes from the shooting.

Pardon me again for the dark skin. Y’know, I’m never a photogenic person!

Nice portrait, eh? I’m not really good in portrait photography, though.

Nice! The best Christmas souvenir just in case you’re either someone from a non-Christian country.

I’m always off-cam, and behind the camera. Kasi hindi nga ako photogenic.

Yum! Salivation-sensitive chicken. <:

Of course, the congee with century egg completed my day.

Since this was my first time to visit Manila Ocean Park, I know, this time, I’m without the family. If I were given a chance to be independent, I hope the Philippines would lessen the crime rate kasi nakakahiya naman sa buong mundo! Parang ‘yung hostage crisis last, last year? As if Philippine tourism was ruined because of the incident. I think, this is another sign of the Spratly issue response… or nagkataon lang.

Here are some of the things about diplomacy/travel (Chinese citizenship vs. Filipino citizenship)

Most Filipino-Chinese people go to Hong Kong, but some do go to China or Taiwan. Okay, share ko lang sa inyo ‘to, ah. I think holding a Philippine passport, although restrictive, has more advantages compared to a mainland Chinese passport. There are many restrictions if you’re a Chinese citizen, and visiting Taiwan is something… really complicated to tell. But to know more about the Filipino-Chinese with how they travel, well… obvious naman that they’re travelling all over the world kahit mas restrictive naman ‘yung passport nila, hindi ba?

Still waiting for the right time to get my lens…

Gosh, I’m still waiting for Kuya Joseph’s reply pa naman! HAHA! Anyways, the Sigma lens talaga, is like risking your life using something with poor quality control… and lemme be honest with you: Never naman talaga ako naging fan ng third-party lens. If you’re talking about third-party, Sigma, Tamron and Tokina are the actual ones that will really boggle you. I’m not discouraging your from buying third-party, pero make sure that it has an anti-shake feature, kasi the results might turn out to discourage you, so sayang naman ang pera.

When I simply take photos with my Sigma lens, parang hindi talaga maganda ang quality. Trust me, flexi-lenses like that won’t really please you…

*still waiting for his reply* Drama mode na naman ako!

Panorama Madness; First Time in Manila Ocean Park

So, my ka-grupo and I went to this attraction near Quirino Grandstand. YES, that’s right. It’s Manila Ocean Park. However, since it’s a Wednesday, there are a few people visiting the place, so yeah.

Believe it or not, this is a panorama shot. Usually, a single shot to this subject would cause distortions.

I love the emptiness [*ehem* ambience] of this place. Look at the top, there’s the slide! HAHAHA!

Alright, this is the entrance towards the real… aquarium, I think? Be the judge!

Taking this shot is like, playing again with Photomerge.

Antarctica! This is one interesting continent and at the same time, a snow desert. BRR!

This is one lucky penguin! Of course, watch out for the next episode… I mean, shot!

Fierce! This one’s really taken like a boss! Pang-NatGeo ang peg, ah! Pardon for the blurry effect, though.

Last photo: This is the interaction between a human being and a polar animal. ((:

I guess, I’m really desperate for the EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, OR the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM for Canon lens. Just in case the 5D Mark III comes, I might as well buy the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens, or maybe the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM.

Just in case the EF 70-30mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens comes, I might as well use it to be a paparazzi person. Hmm…

Ashley Gosiengfiao: The lady behind orangeish

whatswithjeff.com/Ashley Gosiengfiao|The lady behind orangeish/ashlili

Who is Ashley?

Ashley Gosiengfiao is the younger sister of cosplay queen Alodia Gosiengfiao. Like her sister, she’s an Atenean and her high school alma mater is/was in Miriam College.

Being of Spanish-Chinese and Filipino descent, it is no doubt that her chinita-mestiza looks are very obvious, and it is also explained on her surname and middle name. Also, everyone would think that she’s well-off because she has everything: 12 guitars, a Canon 5D Mark II, a Mac computer, what else? However, Ashley explained that she and her sister are both hard-working.

Ashley the Photographer

Ashley started to teach herself photography at a very young age. At 19 years old, she turned professional, and it is clearly explained on her photographs. It is no doubt that she’s the official photographer of Alodia.

Here are some of her photographs (credits from her Flickr account):

The Gamer II

Note: I can’t place some more photos. Click HERE and HERE if you want to see more.

Ashley is no doubt a really good photographer. She once said that she learned the adjustments by heart just before she got herself a 5D Mark II. Looking at most of her photos, everything is a classic. You won’t get tired of looking at her photographs, because they’re like jewels when she takes a single photograph. Edited or not, it reflects her passion in making them really wonderful.

Anything at Random III

Crab Mentality

For the socialists, crab mentality is a mortal sin. It is wherein you pull someone who has a higher level than you do. That’s what most pseudo-feisty starlets do when they think they’re left behind the big stars. This also applies to those who envy the privileged people.

This is a common attitude that most Filipinos do when they see someone who is very successful (e.g., Charice). Usually, most of these talented people who are targets of crab mentality started from small things. Do you think Pacman would show off his boxing gloves to his kids? Course, not! He ain’t the type of dad who encourages his kids to do what he does. He thinks that boxing is the sports of the poor people. It’s a good thing he isn’t that arrogant; in fact, he pays taxes even at the height of his career as politician and athlete.

To those who do not deserve crab mentality are those who work hard, unlike those who have many access to all kinds of things. If you think that Angelina Jolie is a hypocrite for being a charity worker and at the same time, an action movie star, you don’t even know that growing up without a father affected much of her life which made her become a rebel, though it doesn’t seem obvious to her, compared to Kate Hudson who stars in a lot of movies probably because her mother is a movie star and has a foster-father (who is also an actor) whom she considers as “dad.” She got no effort at all when she stars in most romantic comedies, all she does is to act whatever is told unto her.

In many cases such as AA Klenk, crab mentality during the time she lambasted the Pop Princess was more like of hater users who use her name mixed with bad things. That crab mentality is not actually crab mentality, but these are observers and Popstar fans alike who think that what she does is wrong. Rather than reprimanding her properly, they make the scenario worse. Hate messages, retweets and the rest just got into action. They said, “Just be naked, pornstar!” or maybe this one, “You have no breeding at all!” In that case, that is not crab mentality after all. It’s actually a Twitter war between 1 vs. 100.

So, yeah. Now you know how to distinguish crab mentality from online wars.

In my own experience, crab mentality is lambasting other people for being so materialistic. Oh, no you don’t. If most people really scream, “I want an iPod,” that would mean that it’s none of your business at all if they want an iPod. If someone wants a Mac computer, let them be. Most PC laptops are actually not gonna last forever since it’s not as durable as Macs. To be honest with you, this MacBook with me is almost one year old, so you really don’t want to be one of those detractors who would say, “Bitch, you are such a spoiled brat.” To Mac haters, don’t be too judgmental first. You might not want to be labelled as, “a Mac hater who lied.”

Crab mentality also happens when you think of others as “spoiled brat.” It’s a normal thing if they’re mixed-raced (particularly those who come from L.A., Tokyo, Europe, or if they were born with a silver spoon on their mouths) but if you look at those people who only became well-to-do at a late age, just give them a chance to experience a good life.

Always remember, being in the elite class doesn’t mean happiness. So, don’t consider me a socialite. :p

It is your own blog, own website, so post anything you want!

Like what Felice Fawn said,

It’s not disgusting. You’re not disgusting. Wear whatever the fuck you want where ever you want, and ignore what other people think.

Felice Fawn isn’t your average British netizen. She’s the type of blogger who gives a lot of advice based on her beliefs. To those who are religious, you might be culture-shocked that she is proud to be an anti-theist atheist. You might also get culture-shocked because of her personal style. Despite these thigs, she’s got swag in everything. You learn something from her, actually.

Like what she said, “Ignore what other people think.”

Your life doesn’t depend upon other peoples’ beliefs. That’s exactly what I wanted to say in life. You shouldn’t believe in those people who are putting you down. Like what my friend said, they’re just a waste of time.

People think that what you’re usually doing is a “taboo,” or even “forbidden.” Gah, you’re not in a country where totalitarianism is observed. Imagine people violating your rights, like what other traditional people do like, “I’ll disown you once you get another tattoo!” Alright, go get a tattoo if you really want one, but make sure you’re at the right age to have one. If you want to smoke, go ahead. Smoking is not actually morally bad. For health reasons, it’s not ideal.

Remember, in social interactions, there is no such thing as “right” or “wrong,” but rather, “socially acceptable” or the other way around. It’s alright to say “shit” or “fuck,” or “GTFO” or “IDGAF,” or maybe “HOMFG.” No problem.

You can always utter bad words on your blog, it’s no big deal if you say, “Fucking shit,” or “I hate that fucking train, it’s too slow!” It may seem bad, but it sounds funny, actually. I’d rather say, “I forget that fucking book, actually. Shit!”

It’s my deviantArt, so stop being a fake “super-helper”

Remember the post about cutting relationships with someone who’s a know-it-all? It really sucks if someone tells you to do what he/she does, which I find it bullcrap. Indeed.

There are many people who think that artworks are something to be valued.

Artworks, eh?

Oh, yes! deviantArt! Alright. So, if you compare deviantArt to Flickr, I think deviantArt is way much for every visual artist unlike Flickr which is designed for the photographer. If you’re a digital artist and have Photoshop, go to deviantArt. If you are a photographer, it’s either deviantArt or Flickr.

Because of Photoshop, I think I have confidence in deviantArt. But someone proved me wrong, so yeah. 😀

For the photographer/artist: deviantArt over Flickr

What is the difference between deviantArt and Flickr?

deviantArt

– It is designed for the creative artist.
– It has a blog (aka Journal) where you can post something and keep in touch with your watchers.
– Everything you can do can be customized.
– You can post as many files as you could.

Flickr

– It is designed for the photographer.
– It has limitations, however, especially if you’re using a free account.
– It is very strict in copyright rules, unlike deviantArt.

Why deviantArt?

So, yes. I may sound biased but here’s the thing: Everyone likes and faves your artworks and it is for everyone, unlike Flickr, which is designed for professionals and real passionate photographers. In deviantArt, you are noticed for your originality and  creativity while in Flickr you are noticed for your professional-like creativity. In deviantArt, it is like a social networking site.

Things I learned from deviantArt:

– You don’t actually need PhotoShop to fit in. Some photographers do not use it, AT ALL. Some of them just do not edit them or maybe it’s not their preference. I only learned Photoshop and simply used it is because, I want my photos to look vintage. HA! My dream of editing them is like, whoa!

– Being creative is a very serious thing. There is always originality to each and every artwork you have.

– You also do not need a DSLR to fit in. You have two choices: Art by writing/drafting material OR camera.

– Fitting in doesn’t mean you are a good artist. It’s all in your creativity and imagination.

Why create an account there…

– For the photographer/DSLR owner: Choose deviantArt rather than Flickr.

– Of course, friendly people. I thought most of them are rude, mean but actually, people there at least, KNOW how to appreciate artworks. To be honest, I have TWO accounts there but I don’t use the first one anymore. It’s only there for preservation since there some artworks that are worth a fave.

– You’ll meet cool people like Aziz Natour, Joey Fitzpatrick and Stefan Janisch. They are good artists and they’re worth a watch. YES, they are COOL. Cooler than a fridge, really.

– I just dunno what to say, but hey! If you have a deviantArt account, watch me and yeah… y’know what I mean.
