Nostalgia: The Addams Family

Ever since, I am a Cartoon Network junkie. However, one of the now-defunct cartoons is still much better than the newer ones that are aired (except Adventure Time and Chowder).

Even though Disney and Nickelodeon are better than CN, nothing beats the presence and the impact of this channel.

Here, I’ll show you this… cartoon, called “The Addams Family.”

This is not a horror cartoon. n fact, this is a macabre cartoon with loads of humor with it.

With Scooby-Doo!

Naaah, the old cartoons are much better than now. Ugh. Parang hindi na maa-appreciate ng mga younger generation ang mga new cartoons rather than the old ones. Of course, the old cartoons are better and more fun, though!

All of these are from FB… hehehe

Lea Salonga: Why she’s all worth it

Disney’s Reflection

A Whole New World

Blessed with a God-given beauty and a heavenly voice, Ms. Lea Salonga is finally here as someone who is a Filipino pride.

What the…? Someone with God-given talent is outspoken at the same time?

Unfortunately, I’m no fan of Lea, but I think her voice is really angelic. Take note: Angelic. Not even the Pop Princess could even replicate it. Not even Charice. Or maybe others.

Lea Salonga is at-par with Regine Velasquez, Kuh Ledesma, Frenchie Dy, and any other singers who are not only talented but also blessed with a rocking voice.

Granted that her English accent is too foreign, but take note that she sings in Filipino without any ka-ere-ere.

Can’t believe she sang this. Hehehe, a younger version of hers is an evidence.

Lea isn’t only a singer, a Tony-award winner, a mother and an actress (in fact she portrayed the Fil-Am, opposite Aga Muhlach), but she is also outspoken, and with regards her opinion towards the RH Bill, she is PRO-RH, and she said that amidst any obstacle, she’ll be a spokesperson for it.

Also, she spoke about the Lady GaGa concert which resulted to many protests. Oo nga naman, although she was really eager to “let the concert be,” I think protesters were there to discourage the fans to watch the concert.

Lastly, with regards to the issue regarding Anne Curtis, it was a simple misunderstanding. Actually, Lea Salonga appreciated Anne Curtis’s accomplishment to hold a concert at a huge stadium. It was only that she thinks that it is very insulting to claim yourself as a singer if you’re consistently off-key (Oh-no. So that’s why Lou Jing was evicted from the Go! Oriental Angel program!).

At the back of my mind, I could actually tell that, “Hindi porke’t magaling kayong kumanta’t malayo ang narating niyo, lalaitin niyo na kaagad ang nais umawit sa harapan ng mga madlang, kahit hindi naman sila ganun kagaling sa pag-awit.”

However, Anne Curtis said, “Hindi talaga ako singer. I’m an entertainer.”

I cannot even… but anyways, if you think that Lea sounded haughty, she sounded more of sarcastic and doubting and said, “I think she (Anne C.) should not focus on singing.”

Seriously, I think that Lea Salonga is truly established.

When she was criticized because of Shamcey Supsup’s loss… for the champion position… in the Miss Universe thingy…

“Religion is a very sensitive topic,” she (Lea) said.

At least one Pinoy pride is well-rounded

One reason why I do admire Lea Salonga in some way is because she does not only limit herself into singing. Being a singer herself didn’t hinder her from speaking her mind and acting out in one of Aga Muhlach’s movies. Hindi lang si Ms. Lea ang naging well-rounded. Pati rin sina Sarah Geronimo (singing, acting, dancing, hosting), sina Manny Pacquiao (pulitiko, recording artist, actor, host), at iba pa.

For the elite only?

I think Lea Salonga is looked up as targeted for the elites is because of her high standards. You might not notice her American accent when she is usually being interviewed, parang lumaki lang siya sa ibang bansa. For those who were fresh out of middle-class exposure, I think you’ll really be very annoyed when you talk to someone who is puro f*cking English ang sinasalita. In other words, conyotic. However, if you’ll take a look at their backgrounds, I think you should get used to the norm since it’s not their fault if they’re exposed to another culture or so. Since Lea is very much experienced, everyone should get used to it when she mimicks the accents of other nationalities. I think there’s nothing wrong it when she does the American accent, but sometimes, it could get really very annoying, lalo na kapag ang local media pa ang nagi-interview pa sa kanya. It’s like, “Dear, parang fresh out of abroad ka lang, ah.”

I don’t think it’s a good idea to think that when a Filipino has a distinctive English accent (e.g., American, British), you lash out and say, “Conyotic!” Lea may seem to be conyo, but to take a look from where she came from, I think it’s time for you guys to rethink again. She grew up in an environment that was full of strict rules since her father was from the military. Imagine, she graduated from Ateneo de Manila University, which probably made her speak in an unusual, distinctive accent.

If the masa cannot even appreciate Lea Salonga, at least there are a lot of singers to choose from besides Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, Kuh Ledesma, Frenchie Dy, et cetera.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Megan Fox!|Whoa!

That’s a relief.

Anyways, congratulations to Megan Fox for being a new mom… biological mom.

This time, I’mma embrace her again! Despite the Transformers controversy and the “dark sides” she had, I think she’ll follow Nicole Richie for at least, changing those bad days as a “sexy star.” (Nicole is sort of a juvenile delinquent, but has a reputable side.)

Her son is BTW, Noah Shannon Green, and yes, Austin Green is the dad, and her hubby! I’m wondering about her son’s future reactions on her tattoos? LOL.

Amuro Namie facts and trivia, according to a fan

Thanks Pampril aka for posting this! Hope you don’t mind if I make this a blog post!

All Amuro photos are from again (:

Okay, not really much of an Amuro fan, but the owner of commented on Amuro Namie and the Tattoo Connection, which is an honor since this is the first time I was acknowledged as a blogger, but her reactions with the things I have posted about Amuro were yeah… actually I was intrigued, so I decided to post her comment right here.

Here’s the official statement

Hi, I’m the owner of Toi et moi v4. Thank you for crediting my website, not everyone takes the time to do it.
If I may, I would just like to correct a few inaccuracies in your article about Namie’s tattoos.

First of all, you may have not noticed it because it was discrete but Namie had her first tattoo in 1996 while she was in Jamaica. This was a barcode with her birthday date. It’s on the cover of her first photobook #19970920.

She then had a second tattoo on the same wrist, some flowers but I don’t remember when…

She finally had the two tattoos you mention in 2002 (and not 2003).

On these two pics dating from May 2002, you can already see them.

She has recently removed her two first tattoos and it seems like she replaced them with one tattoo in the interior of her wrist: it reads Love Peace World.

The second thing is that Namie has never been married twice. She only married Sam in 1997 and gave birth to Haruto in 1998. Her mother did not die at this moment, she was murdered by her brother-in-law in 1999, the day Namie’s second come-back single, “Respect the power of love”, was out.

Namie said several times that she was happy her mother could see her son before dying. After her death, she considered stopping her careeer. Then she remembered how proud was her mother everytime she could see her on TV: she decided to keep singing.

Third thing is about Japanese people loving her tattoos. Well, it’s a very new thing! Tattoos are still associated with yakuza and wearing them is still seen as a bad thing in Japan. If you may not see her biggest tattoos in some commercials, it’s not surprising, they were hidden. The sames goes with NHK Kouhaku Utagussen: when Namie used to participate, they would make her hide her tattoos because it was not “correct” to wear them.

Namie has long been the target of the medias: she used to be called a “has-been” as well as a bad mum (for primarily leaving custody of her son to Sam). Divorce is also very ill-considered in Japanese society.

Lastly, it has never been proved that Namie was of Italian decent. It used to be written in all profiles and magazines back in the 1990’s, but Emiko Taira herself (Namie’s mother) stated that she never known which origin was her father. She only knew he was European, she said “maybe English or Italian”. I think Namie’s company thought that Italian was fashionable and exotic at the time and decided to go for it. The truth is that Namie only know she’s not 100% Okinawaian. Her father may also have been an American of European decent, that’s what a few Japanese website write.

As for her English, I absolutely don’t know is she’s able to hold a conversation. She doesn’t write her lyrics and she was really surprise to learn the meaning of some slang in “Want me, Want me”. She only learned the meaning of them quite a long time after she has recorded the song! I guess she can understand a few words, but she may be really bad at languages. It’s true that the full-English songs in Uncontrolled are intriguing, but I don’t think it means her skills have greatly improved.

My Take

Please read at your own risk. You might get disappointed once I rant, but if you can’t stand all the comments I have posted/vent(ed), try reading another blog entry.

The ancestry dilemma

Oh, yes. I forgot about the website I saw… I think one website stated that the part-Italian thing is actually the agency’s decision to make it a part of Amuro’s identity. However, some sources said that she’s “one-quarter white,” but did not even specify the ethnicity.

Okinawa used to be a part of the United States of America, so no wonder you won’t really question one person’s ethnicity if they’re half-white. If that is so, I think that you might get used to it when you hear that Olivia Lufkin was from Okinawa (Olivia BTW is Japanese-Norwegian-American).

No wonder Namie has an innocent look, and you won’t ever believe that she’s a mother of one.

English lyrics and tattoos look cool… really?

My thoughts about Amuro’s English lyrics and tattoos — well, I’m not ranting against the comment stated above ok? These are the thoughts that I really want to vent out, seriously.

With regards to the English lyrics, I really don’t know why THE HELL should someone sing in English if that person does not even speak the language, right? Okay, there’s nothing wrong with singing in English despite your lack of proficiency on it, but please, I don’t think it’s a good idea to say, “Body Feels EXIT! Body Feels EXCITE!”

Gosh, it does not make sense when you say, “Oh, me body feels EXIT!”

Like, “WTF!?”

It’s like you’re trying so hard to seem cool, if in fact you’re only doing it to look cool.

Read the article here.

Jpop Addict stated:

The first example is the recent release of Namie Amuro’s single 60s 70s 80s, which features the song ROCK STEADY. In the chorus, Namie uses the phrase “bungee jump” in the middle of some Japanese lines. If you’re like me, you’re wondering what the hell she is talking about and grow increasingly angry each time she says it. In my opinion, it would have annoyed me less if she had just used Japanese instead.

Granted that Namie does not actually write her own songs, but just in case you’re wondering whether she could actually speak in English, you’ll really gonna scratch your head off! Also, I heard that her son Haruto was making fun of her English proficiency as well (and it was reported that his English is better!).

Actually, these things are the reasons why I was looking up to people like Ayumi Hamasaki, Angela Aki, Utada Hikaru and Gackt. Although they have English words on their lyrics, at least they really have the nerve to speak in English (or can speak, fluent or not). In Ayumi’s case, she learned English, I think, from her ex-husband. Good for her, and you’ll notice that most of her songs are purely Japanese, and there are only a few English words on it, so no wonder, she was more recognized at the Western world, although Amuro was the original. Not promoting Amuro-Hamasaki rivalry here because their style is waaaay different from one another. Ayu-chan is more of the kawaii type, while Amuro diversifies.

Okay, no offense to Pampril (I know she’s a real Amuro fan) and to the rest of Amuro Namie fans, but those tattoos? I have nothing against people who think that Kanji tattoos are cool, just in case they don’t speak Japanese/Chinese at all, same with non-English speaking people having tattoos of Shakespearean words on their bodies. However, quoting Kouhei Smith, Kanji tattoos are not that cool at all. Maybe your Chinese character for love is actually not “love” at all. LOL, same with Engrish tattoos.|WTH does that mean, anyway?

Maybe it’s the Engrish version of Love, Peace in this World. So again, I’m not being a grammar Nazi right here, but I don’t think English tattoos for non-English speakers are not cool, actually.

Look at these dudes’ tattoos below:|LOL, like when someone needs something, he/she’s a true friend?|Perfect, NOT “prection!” Wait, maybe “Actions need more erection than words”? LOL!

It should also be taken note that Amuro Namie’s oval tattoo (which is bad-ass) is also in Engrish.

“My mothers love live with me, Eternally in my heart. RIP”

Should it be, “My mother’s love lives with me, Eternally in my heart.”?

Seriously, the tattoos look reeeeaaaally ugly. No offense meant to Amuro fans, but I think these tats look like jail tattoos.

It’s like this: Oval-shaped memorial tattoo, right? Reminds me of an elongated coin coming from that coin-molding machine in Canada. Also, the “Haruto” tattoo is like, “Wait, is that her ex or something?”|, may I have your attention, please?|I am really calling, seriously!

Yeah, curly and straight hair and cute clothes — she can carry those, but tattoos? I don’t think it really suits her personality so well. While I do enjoy her songs (yeah, her songs are great, actually), but please don’t call me jealous. I really can’t stand these types of tattoos at all, so no wonder her arm tats are concealed, because according to Pampril, it’s not correct to wear them on CM’s.

I think I’m the only one who does not really like her arm tattoos. It may be endearing and meaningful, but I can’t stand it. Okay, go on and slap to me, “Get used to it!”, but some people might not like it too!

Seriously, that disturbing oval-shaped vandalism (together with her son’s name) reminds me of a wine label, but TWG teas had it! Overall, Amuro Namie’s tattoos are like jail tattoos, as if she has an elongated coin together with a guy’s name below it. Like a wine label, really.

Not being a hater, but those tattoos really look nuttig to me! I like her right arm tattoos better, since it’s really more fashionable-looking.

Okay, enough with the tattoo thing! It really sounds intriguing if you lately knew about your idol having arm tattoos. If that would be a girl… oh wait, I think I’m not the only person who thinks about Amuro’s tattoos as not very cool…

GTK: Am I only one who thinks that Namie is like….a japanese version of Cheryl Cole?
OSR: Yes.
Namie Amuro:
– 20 years long career
– 32 million records sold
– 16 top 5 albums, including 10 #1’s, 2 #2’s and 2 #3’s
– 39 top 10 singles, including 11 #1’s, 9 #2’s and 8 #3’s
– can sing live
– can sing live AND dance at the same time
– etc.
GTK: Didn’t mean anything negative by that and didn’t mean literally. They both have same appearance, same level of popularity in their countries, their music/fashion style is close, they are both great dancers and ok singers….they both have ugly tattoos.

Amuro and Tweedy are both tanned, sexy… but the tats?

Oh yes, Amuro’s arm tattoos may be meaningful, again, but they’re really haesslich, but Cheryl Cole’s tattoos are REALLY VERY TRASHY! Her thigh and arse tattoos are really disgusting, really ugly and yeah… search for more Cheryl Cole tattoos on Google because I’m too lazy to post them, and yeah, I can’t stand it too, but I think those are trashier, uglier and more dirty-looking than Amuro’s arm tattoos.

I think Cheryl Cole should’ve not been too drunk to have these arse and thigh tattoos done. It’s sluttier and more disturbing. Would you ever date a girlfriend who has those fugly tats? Maybe Apnea and Felice Fawn’s thigh tattoos are better since they’re really ART, but as for Cheryl, I really have a feeling that those are drunk tattoos!

Okay, it’s like Engrish lyrics and tattoos for me are NOT cool at all. In fact, you’re like being an idiot when you speak English without any sense at all!

I really cannot stand people who constantly sings with English words and have Engrish tattoos, but you know… because people might wonder really, if you really know the language. Quoting J-Pop Addict:

Ironically, I complain about bad English lyrics in Jpop when my English is poor and I write articles in this blog. I’m a hypocrite, there’s no doubt about that. I hope I provided some decent examples of bad English in Jpop. I know there’s an abundance of terrible English in Jpop, but I typically stop listening to those songs and remove it from my memory. If you have some examples you’d like to share, feel free to leave a comment. If I’ve offended anyone, say if BoA’s Next World album is your favourite album of all time, direct your anger towards clicking some ads or something…so I can continue buying better Jpop.

I’m not this type of person. I do like songs that have English lyrics maybe because of the music, but being unable to speak in English despite singing English songs and having English tattoos is really cringe-inducing. It is like you’re trying so hard to look cool, if in fact it might offend native English speakers. It’s similar to real singers being insulted to people who claim to be singers if they’re actually off-key. HAHA, I really do have high standards.

So I was really like, very disappointed with the Engrish thing. Okay, Amuro’s oval tattoo is for her mother, but I cannot imagine someone with the same ink for fun. Choz!

Happy Birthday to Francis M!|The King of Rap

Happy Birthday to the King of Rap!

Awwww… if he didn’t die of cancer, he would’ve been 48 years old! But that’s okay, because I would consider him not only as one of the National Artists (if ever this is true… no idea), but I believe he should be one of the national heroes for his patriotism and renewing the face of Original Pinoy Music.

Mabuhay ka, Mr. Francis M! Forever legend! \m/

Stars without makeup|Cecilia Cheung looks much better sans makeup.|Aishwarya Rai looks like the child of Mr. Bean! No wonder Rowan Atkinson’s good-looking pre-Mr. Bean days.|Can’t believe Charlize doesn’t only have a big face sans makeup, the wrinkles are starting to reveal.|I have to agree with Avril rulez without eyeliner… but you might not believe your eyes when you see the truth…|…without makeup. Gosh, you might wanna see Apnea Pemberton sans makeup rather.

Last but not least…|Guess who?

If you think that AA is prettier without makeup in person, some accounts said that she looks ordinary, and another thing, she lacks height. I really can’t judge if true or not, but another account said that she looks gay.

BUT… take a look at this…|Yeng Constatino looks like Koo Hye Sun right here! Kawaii!

Kitchie Nadal is prettier in person… without makeup! Trust me, magugulat kayo dahil cute lang siya sa TV, but mapapa-WOW ka talaga when you see her LIVE. I wonder where she is now, though.

The Social Network|The Social Network Cover

Short Intro

I thought that Justin Timberlake portrayed Mark Zuckerberg in the movie. It was Jesse Eisenberg who portrayed him.

Alright, I’ll be honest. Esisenberg reminds me Ben Whishaw, a Brit actor who protrayed Grenouille in “Perfume” movie.

I was wondering if Erica Albright is real or not, but speculations said that she is only fictional (oh yeah, just like the characters in Osaka Monogatari, I doubt that there are some people there who will exist for real).

Before watching the Social Network, I highly doubted that Mark Zuckerberg only had Priscilla Chan as his first and last girlfriend, but it turned out that she wasn’t. I was really doubting if Albright was for real.

Wait… are we talking about Gabriela Robin here?

If people would ask, “Who the hell’s Gabriela Robin?”, well, she’s THAT singer who sings in Gibberish. It is Yoko Kanno’s really dirty secret and she won’t EVER reveal who that person is. While people speculate that Robin is Kanno herself, it is really questionable.

The Summary [Leave this page if you don’t wanna get spoilers]

Mark Zuckerberg faced lawsuits coming from his best friend Eduardo, and also the twins Tyler (?) and Cameron, the rowers. Zuckerberg is indeed, a nerd, but he had different connectios with Sean, Napster’s CEO. Teamwork came and this broke the friendship between Zuck and Ed (not sure of the monicker).

I really do recommend everyone watching this film. For the prospective lawyers, this is for you.

So you see, Bill Gates was also featured, but I highly doubt that HE portrayed HIMSELF in that film, or is it really him after all? For those who do not know the whole story about Mark Zuckerberg’s creation, Facebook started as “Facemash,” a website designed to compare the best faces in Harvard.

But from the short intro I made, I thought Albright was real, but after all, she’s more of fictional, so we really cannot tell if she really did exist. After all, their conversation in the movie started as serious, but there were no signs of disagreement. It was only then that Mark proved himself a nerd.

What nerd?

At least he never ended up like Cho Seung-hui (RIP).

The Comedy King’s Memory: At a Glance|Does Pidol look very familiar with this photo? HAHA!

The man who nourished our childhood

His most memorable comedy stint would be in Wanted: Perfect Father for his role as Roy/Mommy Rose. One of the things that I liked best about Pidol is that, he’s very great in creating stints that will awe everyone. Without him, Babalu, Redford White or even Carding might not become famous. He’s a great influence.

He deserves the National Artist award

The award belongs to Dolphy. Not only that he is a talented comedian, his signature, “Maganda ka, past tense ‘yan!” is a proof that he’s a good comedian!

Alright, to think over these things, he would never marry his love interests. I really don’t know why, but I think he does not believe in marriage. After all, if he were to be politically-active, he would rather advocate for “everlasting love without marriage.” Of course, he might as well have influenced Goldie Hawn, Brangelina and Oprah. OR most probably Tito Boy.

To end the story…

I think there’s more to explain with Dolphy, since he really made a remarkable achievement in Philippine cinema.

Blogger Profile: Perez Hilton|ALL HAIL the unkabogable Perez Hilton!

Mario Lavandeira the American of Cuban descent

Now that explains his ability to speak in Spanish. His parents are Cuban (hahaha, political asylum!?)… well I thought he was Mexican, though!

Perez Hilton made his own pen name to play a pun on Paris Hilton. Hmm… is that right!? I thought Paris and he are relatives, but it turns out that they’re not related to one another.

His contribution to the LGBT community

You know how defensive he is, right? Remember the Carrie Prejean issue when he lambasted Carrie because of her comment about gay marriage. Well, it’s only an opinion, but to think that Carrie is a “devout Catholic” with a sex video? That’s another story. Carrie isn’t a role model after all, when talking about religion and shiz!? HAHAHA, not bad when she’s compared to AA!

BUT… I do respect Perez as a gay, because he is OPENLY gay.

His admiration for Charlize Theron and Lady GaGa proves his gay-ness

Charlize supports LGBT, Lady GaGa does the same as well. So no wonder, Perez would usually post something really very positive about them. If a person happens to be ANTI-GAY, he might as well lambast you!

That’s why he lambasted Carrie Prejean for being a “hypocrite.” Yeah, I ain’t a fan of Carrie, but please don’t forget the boobjob thing. Hmmm… so hypocritical (right, AA!? You’re fully-bodied RETOKE, but you ain’t gonna admit it because you’re afraid you might be nitpicked by SG’s fans!).

HAHAHA, wonder if he would lambast someone for being anti-gay. He might as well lambast the Middle East, for sure.
